2 died as Malaysia won gold medal

Two fans died in a stampede at the Southeast Asian Games football final in Jakarta, a report said on Tuesday, overshadowing a win on penalties for defending champions Malaysia against hosts Indonesia.The two men, wearing Indonesian red-and-white football team T-shirts were taken to hospital at 8:30 pm, around 90 minutes after the stampede broke out, according to a report by the Detik.com news portal, which cited a paramedic.
Local media reported that several other spectators had been taken to hospital, including a nine-year-old boy who had fallen into a coma, as tens of thousands of fans swarmed to the Gelora Bung Karno stadium for Monday night’s final.
Hundreds of people were packed tight against ticket barriers as police closed the gates shortly before kick-off, with many fans inside forced to crouch in aisles and walkways, according to an AFP reporter at the scene.

Two best teams will clash today at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium starting at 7 PM. Indonesia will meet again with reigning champion Malaysia in final of football competition at SEA Games 2011. They were joined to Group A which called as ‘Group of Death’ in this tournament. Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and Cambodia were joined to this Group. Malaysia finally became the winner of this Group after collecting 10 points while Indonesia became runner-up who collected 9 points.

At SEA Games 2011, Malaysia met Indonesia in the last match of group round two days ago, Malaysia defeated hosts 1-0 and became winner of Group A. In semifinal, Harimau Malaya met Myanmar who became runner-up of Group B. Malaysia advanced to final after defeating Myanmar 1-0.
1991 is the last time for Indonesia of reaching this trophy, twenty years ago Indonesia became the winner of this event. Now, all fans and people in Indonesia are expecting Indonesia can defeat Malaysia in final and lift the trophy in their home. But it will be so hard, Malaysia is a tough team and one of favorite team in this event. They also hope that Indonesia can revenge their defeat against Malaysia. They were defeated by Malaysia at AFF Suzuki Cup in final last year.
